HOUSE M
This project was for European clients who spend South African summers in their luxury Southern Suburbs apartment. With easy access to Kirstenbosch Gardens and Constantia Winelands, it is no surprise that they decided on this Summer location.
The apartment needed to have the ease of lock-up-and-go due to the seasonal use, however this kitchen design was a very forward thinking, tech-inspired space. The aesthetic was kept minimalist with clean lines and a neutral colour palette.
We used the Forma Mentis programme as the shape and materials of the Forma Mentis doors, constructed with slanting edges that have micro ridges, has been designed to make it easy to grasp and open without the need of handles thus ensuring clean-cut lines and practicality-of-use.
We used a combination of Matt Kamut and Matt Volcanic Soil Glass for the drawer fronts of the backrun and island. The island used Sapienstone Platinum White as a waterfall countertop with a breakfast bar overhang.
A definite talking point about the kitchen has to be the Invisa Cook stove hob – positioned just under the countertop, and heats the pans through the surface. This innovative technology combines a functional cooking surface with a luxury design. There are also hidden wireless chargers in the countertop. These small additions can make an incredible difference to the overall aesthetic of the kitchen design by eliminating any obstructions to the island worktop.
