HOUSE SPRINGBOK
This home is situated on the base of Signal Hill and boasts arguably the best views in Cape Town with a 180-degree panorama of the Atlantic Seaboard. From the beginning of the brief process, it was clear that there would be an emphasis on natural materials presented through darker tones and hues. The result is a refined sense of masculine sophistication.
The kitchen features the Artematica programme for the backrun. This programme has been designed down to the last detail to make movements more fluid and assured. As the finish, Valcucine used wood veneer to convey a strong tactile sensation. Integrated into the stone countertop is the Logica Theca, a space to hold small containers, utensils, spices and electrical sockets.
The tower units include receding doors hiding a large storage space, finished in aluminium and timber. This space is utilised as a tea and coffee station, uncovering a colourful collection of Le Creuset crockery.
The custom Genius Loci island celebrates varied textures of materials combining a wood veneer breakfast bar, glass drawer fronts and stone countertops. The island offers a timeless aesthetic and hand-crafted workmanship.
Further along, you will find the sleek wine bar, designed through the customisation of the Artematica programme. It combines a variety of stone, matt black glass and walnut timber to create the same refined atmosphere that is found in the rest of the home. The wine bar looks over an outdoor courtyard with stone packed walls and lush greenery.
Finally, the Forma Mentis programme was used for the scullery completed in an Angel Skin finish. As the name suggests, it has a velvet-like texture which is magically soft to the touch.
