Porro is one of Italy’s most sought-after furniture design companies with a wide range of offers that are distinctly tailored in different ways. These products are the result of never-ending research efforts on shapes, materials and technologies. This year, the Porro storage systems of wardrobes and dressing rooms have been renewed culminating in innovative systems which are perfect for the high-end residential space.
Piero Lissoni is an architect, art director and designer who has been recognised as one of the masters of contemporary design. As the firm’s Art Director, since 1989, he has developed innovative projects across a variety of design mediums for the last thirty years which has seen him gain a series of international awards.
Lissoni carries a legacy of creative vitality and the ability to interact and awaken curiosity by exploring different worlds. This puts them at the forefront of international trends and innovation.
This year we saw the renewal of the classic Storage system of wardrobes and dressing rooms with one main inspiration. Light took centre stage for the design process of these improved systems. The wardrobes and dressing rooms now include a wireless lighting system, which has been the result of extensive technical research. The lighting system works by transmitting electricity through electrified bars that are formed into the structural elements of the wardrobe. This allows for the wardrobe to be illuminated beautifully without having to see any of the electrical wires or fixtures resulting in a seamless and effortless end design.
The new lighting inclusion comes in two temperature options to assist in the visual purity of the entire wardrobe design. The fully transparent, open or closed spaces feature glass doors complemented by a variety of finishes on offer. The structural metal parts that frame the wardrobe have been finished with precious colours that assist in the overall lightness of the system design.
Additionally, the updated Porro catalogue sees the inclusion of the conceptually innovative and dynamic Slide door system. The design was a collaboration between Piero Lissoni and Giacomo Cattaneo. The Glide sliding doors achieve the creation of private spaces in the home that are elegantly concealed when closed. When open, the doors aim to turn this separation into instant inclusion into the space.
The system is available in a wide variety of finishes from stained glass to solid timber. This is one of Porro’s widest and most articulated compositions which can be experienced through the expressive overlapping of the doors. The end result is more than just a wardrobe, it is an experience that is transformative for the home.
